The Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization), or CEA, is set to host the Bangkok International Content Market 2026 (BICM2026), Thailand’s first international marketplace dedicated to content trading and business matching, as part of the Thailand Content Market 2026 (TCM2026). The event will serve as a premier B2B platform connecting Thailand’s film and series industry with the global market, bringing together more than 300 local and international content companies, production studios, distributors, and streaming platforms. Over 700 business matching meetings are expected to take place, reinforcing Thailand’s ambition to become the “Content Hub of Asia.” The event will be held from 20–22 July 2026 at Halls 1–2, G Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok.
Bangkok International Content Market 2026 is jointly organised by the Creative Economy Agency (CEA) and the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Thailand Content Market 2026 (TCM2026). While Thailand has long demonstrated its strengths through a highly skilled workforce and internationally recognised creative output, the country has lacked a dedicated marketplace capable of facilitating content trading and generating tangible economic value. BICM2026 has therefore been established to fill this critical gap by providing a centralised business platform that unlocks the potential of Thai content creators while fostering structured investment, commercial partnerships and sustainable business growth.
Thailand’s content industry, together with the broader entertainment and media sector, is currently valued at more than THB 600 billion annually. Investment in content industries—particularly film and broadcasting—also delivers significant economic returns, with every THB 1 invested generating an average of THB 1.8 in economic value. These figures underline the industry’s growing role as one of the country’s key engines for long-term economic growth.
The international success of Thai content continues to demonstrate its global appeal. Over the past three to five years, Thai productions have attracted approximately 750 million views on OTT (Over-the-Top) platforms worldwide. Meanwhile, foreign film productions have generated more than THB 20 billion for the Thai economy over the past decade.

Thai content has also played an increasingly important role in strengthening the country’s international profile and attracting economic activity. A notable example is the acclaimed film How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies (2024), whose international success sparked tourism interest in Bangkok’s historic districts. Its impact illustrates how a single outstanding creative work can generate substantial economic spillover across tourism, hospitality and related service industries.
Similarly, The Evil Lawyer (2026), developed through the CEA Content Lab 2023, was subsequently expanded and co-developed with investment from Netflix before becoming an internationally successful series. It ranked among Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Series for two consecutive weeks, reached No.1 in Thailand, and entered the Top 10 in 15 other countries. The success demonstrates that, with strategic development and sustained support, Thai content can evolve beyond entertainment into high-value cultural assets capable of creating economic value, expanding international business opportunities and showcasing Thailand’s unique cultural identity to audiences around the world.
Dr. Chakrit Pichyangkul, Executive Director of CEA, said: “Thailand has long possessed exceptional creative talent and high-quality content. What has been missing is a dedicated marketplace where creative works can be traded, commercialised and transformed into real economic value. Bangkok International Content Market is the missing piece that completes Thailand’s content ecosystem by bringing together buyers, investors and industry players from around the world in one place.
Our vision is for BICM to become an annual international marketplace that firmly positions Thailand as the Content Hub of Asia. We aim to establish BICM alongside leading regional markets such as FILMART (Hong Kong International Film & TV Market) in Hong Kong and ACFM (Asian Contents & Film Market) in Busan, Republic of Korea, as one of Asia’s premier content markets.”
At BICM2026, a comprehensive line-up of B2B business activities has been designed to facilitate meaningful partnerships, investment opportunities and international collaboration across the content industry.
- Business Matching – the flagship programme of the event – will provide one-to-one business meetings between content owners and buyers from Thailand and overseas. Positioned as the Gateway to ASEAN, a consumer market of more than 700 million people, Thailand offers an ideal business hub for regional expansion. More than 300 participants are expected to join the business matching programme, including Thai content companies, buyers, investors, over 60 international companies and industry networks, as well as 55 film and series creators from Thailand and abroad. Participating organisations include Mono Streaming, Kantana Group, White Light Studio, Matching Maximize Solution, GMMTV, True CJ Creation, M Studio, Netflix, iQiyi International (Thailand) and many others.
- BICM Pitching & Awards will showcase more than 55 production-ready film and series projects and screenplays from Thailand, the Asia-Pacific region and BICM’s international partner networks. The programme comprises:
- Asian Project Pitching – Featuring 12 high-potential projects selected from potential regional content market networks, competing for production grants with a total value of USD 10,000 to support their transition into full-scale production.
- Thai Project Pitching – Presenting 18 Thai projects currently in development, selected from CEA Content Lab 2026 and the BICM Open Call programme. The session is designed to connect project owners with investors and co-production partners, with a USD 5,000 production grant available.
- Thai Story Pitching – Showcasing 25 Thai film and series screenplays from CEA Content Lab 2026 and the BICM Open Call programme. The session offers investors and producers opportunities to acquire adaptation and development rights, with a USD 5,000 production grant for selected projects.
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Screening will provide an exclusive platform for films and series currently in production, allowing Thailand’s leading production companies to present unfinished works to prospective buyers, co-production partners and international sales agents before completion.
- Networking Reception will bring together local and international delegates, creating opportunities for business networking and cross-border partnerships within the global content industry.
Alongside its business programmes, BICM2026 will feature a series of industry forums and workshops open to professionals across the creative industries, as well as buyers, sellers, entrepreneurs, students and members of the public seeking insight into emerging trends and future opportunities in the content business.
Industry Forum
The Industry Forum will present expert insights into the latest developments shaping the global content industry through collaboration between industry associations, government agencies and leading companies. Featured sessions include:
- Regional Content in Focus: From Local Success to Global Phenomenon, featuring Kong Rithdee, Deputy Director of the Thai Film Archive (Public Organisation), and Linda Gozali, Director of JAFF Market, Indonesia.
- International Film Incentive Schemes: Attracting Global Productions While Strengthening Thailand’s VFX and Animation Industry, presented by Kultep Narula from the Association of International Film Production Executives.

Workshops
A series of practical workshops will also be organised to enhance participants’ professional knowledge and industry skills, covering topics such as AI in Animation, Art of Lighting, Content IP Protection & Utilisation, and more.
BICM2026 will also host a Special Forum on Co-production in collaboration with ContentAsia, one of Asia’s leading media platforms covering the content industry. The forum will bring together studios, production houses and distributors engaged in cross-border content businesses from India, China, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines to discuss Thailand’s role in the future expansion of Asia’s regional content industry. More than 400 industry delegates are expected to attend.
Another key highlight is the BICM Partner Program, jointly organised by CEA and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). Through Series on Board, an international business platform, more than 12 leading Korean content companies, including AK Entertainment, SLL JoongAn, Contents Sero and MooAm, will connect directly with Thai creators to explore investment opportunities and foster international co-production partnerships.
A key strategic priority for CEA is to transform Thailand’s content industry from generating revenue through content sales alone towards creating long-term value through Intellectual Property (IP). High-value IP can be expanded into multiple business opportunities, including merchandise, character licensing, brand collaborations and franchise development. The remarkable success of Thailand’s Boys’ Love (BL) series has clearly demonstrated that fan communities, artist marketing, licensed merchandise, character businesses and live experiences can generate significantly greater economic value than content licensing alone.

Concluding with CEA’s long-term vision, Dr. Chakrit Pichyangkul, Executive Director of CEA, said:
“CEA’s ambition extends far beyond content licensing. Our goal is to build an ecosystem where Thai intellectual property becomes a high-value asset capable of expanding into merchandise, characters, franchises and a wide range of content-driven businesses. The future of the industry lies in Fully Integrated Content, where a single creative property can evolve across multiple platforms and industries. BICM has therefore been created as a strategic mechanism to empower Thai creators to move beyond contract production and become owners of high-value intellectual property that generates sustainable economic value and long-term national prosperity.”
As part of Thailand Content Market 2026 (TCM2026), Bangkok International Content Market 2026 will showcase the strength and creativity of Thailand’s content industry while reinforcing the country’s position as a Creative Nation driven by innovation, intellectual property and the creative economy.
Bangkok International Content Market 2026 will take place from 20–22 July 2026 at Halls 1–2, G Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok.
